OXFORD TO JOIN AUGSBURG
West Ham defender Reece Oxford looks set to join Bundesliga club Augsburg on a permanent deal after officials agreed a £3m deal with the London club.
Sky Sports News understands Augsburg are now trying to agree personal terms with the 20-year old before their final game of the season on Saturday away to Wolfsburg.
Augsburg coach Martin Schmidt has told media in Germany that the club was very keen to sign the young defender on a permanent basis – but only if they can afford him.
"He certainly has the potential to become a big player,” Augsburg coach Schmidt told Kicker magazine when asked about a permanent move for Oxford, who made seven appearances since joining the German club on loan in January.
"He certainly has qualities, but he must not cost anything more than we can afford. It has to be in the budget."
Reece Oxford scheint nach Leihende wohl doch beim FCA zu bleiben, aber für einen Bruchteil der zuletzt im Raum schwebenden Kaufoption in Höhe von 9,25 Mio. Nach Sky Sport News Infos haben sich die Vereine auf eine Ablöse in Höhe von 3 Mio Pfund, was 3,5 Mio Euro entspräche, geeinigt.

Nun scheint der FC Augsburg Konkurrenz im Werben um den jungen Engländer erhalten zu haben – und zwar aus England. Laut einem Bericht des “Telegraph” droht ein Wechsel zu den Fuggerstädtern zu platzen, weil sich West Bromwich Albion und der FC Middlesbrough aus der Championship für Oxford interessieren.
Doch nicht nur deswegen. Zwar ist sich Oxford mit Augsburg generell einig, der Klub soll sich aber weigern eine Ausstiegsklausel für den Abstiegsfall in den Vertrag des 20-jährigen zu integrieren. Da auch eine Einigung zwischen den Vereinen besteht ist das die letzte Hürde. Bleibt der FCA in dieser Sache bei seiner Meinung, dann ist ein Wechsel in die Bundesliga eher unwahrscheinlich.

Zu Reece Oxford: "Das könnte schwierig werden, dass er kommt. Derzeit sieht es jedenfalls danach aus, dass er nicht zu uns kommt. Aber wir werden auf der Position des Innenverteidigers sicher noch etwas tun."

Sky Sports News understands Reece Oxford’s protracted move from West Ham to Augsburg could be back on after he dropped demands for a release clause if they were relegated.
Negotiations re-opened last week on a deal we understand to be worth around £2.7m, as Oxford returned from a fortnight pre-season training with the Hammers first team squad in Switzerland.
Oxford was not part of the 23-man squad as West Ham heading for China and the Premier League Asia Trophy tournament.
Swansea and Fulham are also understood to be monitoring developments as they consider offers for a season-long loan for Oxford, who spent the second half of last season on loan at the Bundesliga club.
